File handling: Write - GCSE Computer Science Definition

File handling: Write refers to the process of saving or adding data to a file using a computer program. In GCSE Computer Science, when you "write" to a file, you are giving instructions for new information to be stored in that file, like adding a new entry to a digital document. This could be done, for example, to save the changes you've made in a word processing document or to store scores in a game. Writing to a file is an important part of programming because it allows data to be stored permanently, so it's available the next time you need it. Students learn how to code these instructions in programming languages like Python, making sure data is saved correctly and efficiently.
