In computer science, a "string" is a sequence of characters, such as letters, numbers, and symbols, that are put together to form words or sentences. Strings are important in programming because they are used to store and manage text-based information, like names, messages, or any other written data. For example, when you write a sentence or a word on a computer, it is stored as a string. You can think of a string like a bracelet made of beads, where each bead represents a character, and together they make a complete piece of jewellery. In programming languages, strings are often enclosed in quotation marks to show that they are special types of data meant for storing text.
