1. Review Specifications
Before diving into study materials, download and read the specification for each of your chosen A Level subjects. These are available on your exam board’s website and outline:
The topics you'll study
Assessment format
Key skills and learning objectives
Familiarising yourself with the spec helps you understand what’s expected and lets you prioritise useful preparation.
2. Refresh Key GCSE Knowledge
Many A Level courses build on GCSE content. Spend some time reviewing core concepts, especially in subjects like:
Maths and Sciences – algebra, equations, key definitions
English – literary techniques, essay structure
Languages – basic grammar and vocabulary
Use our revision notes, exam questions and mock exams to help you do this.

3. Update your Learner Profile
Update your learner profile with your new subjects so you're all set and ready to go when you head back to school.
4. Read Around Your Subjects
Broaden your understanding and spark curiosity by reading books, articles, or watching documentaries related to your subjects. This builds background knowledge and gives you a head start on classroom discussions.
5. Stay Balanced
Rest is also important. Use the summer to recharge, pursue hobbies, and relax.
By reviewing specifications, brushing up on prior knowledge, and making time to fully rest and recharge, you’ll set yourself up for a confident and capable start to A Levels.
