Rose Black Spot - GCSE Biology Definition

Rose Black Spot is a fungal disease that affects rose plants, caused by the fungus Diplocarpon rosae. It causes purple or black spots to appear on the leaves, which then turn yellow and fall off. This reduces the plant’s ability to carry out photosynthesis, leading to weaker growth and fewer flowers. Rose Black Spot can be managed by removing and destroying affected leaves, using fungicides, and growing resistant rose varieties. In GCSE Biology, it is studied to show how plant diseases can affect health and how they can be controlled.
