In GCSE Biology, bias refers to a systematic error in scientific experiments or data collection that leads to results that are not representative of reality. Bias can happen unintentionally due to issues like poor experimental design, lack of randomisation, selective data reporting, or the experimenter’s expectations. Minimising bias is important to ensure that results are reliable and valid. This can be done by using control variables, blind or double-blind testing, and repeating experiments. Understanding and reducing bias is essential for drawing accurate conclusions in science.
