Inverse proportion is a relationship between two variables where the product of the variables is constant. When two quantities are inversely proportional, as one quantity increases, the other decreases. For example, if a gas is compressed, which lowers its volume, the pressure of the gas will increase. Another example is the relationship between resistance and current in electrical circuits. When the resistance within a circuit is increased, the current decreases.
