Power rating is a measure of how much energy an electrical device can use or produce in a certain amount of time. It tells you the maximum power the device can handle safely, measured in watts (W). For example, a light bulb with a power rating of 60 watts uses 60 joules of energy every second. Knowing the power rating of appliances helps us understand how to use them safely, and it can also be used to calculate efficiency.
