Stationary - GCSE Physics Definition

In GCSE Physics, the term "stationary" refers to an object that is not moving. This means the object is at rest and stays in the same position as its speed is zero. A stationary object also means that all the forces are balanced, and add up to zero. For example, a book lying on a table is stationary because it is not moving, due to the forces being balanced. Forces can also be balanced when an object is moving at a constant velocity, but this would mean that the object is not stationary.
