A hormone is a chemical messenger produced by glands in the endocrine system of the body. These chemical messengers travel through the bloodstream to different parts of the body to help control and regulate various functions like growth, metabolism, and mood. For example, insulin is a hormone that helps control blood sugar levels, while adrenaline prepares the body for quick reactions in stressful situations. Hormones ensure our body works properly by sending important signals for organs and tissues to respond to. Understanding hormones is key to learning about how our bodies function and stay balanced.
