Life Cycle Assessment, often called LCA, is a process used to understand the overall impact of a product on the environment from the start to end of its life. This means looking at everything that happens to a product, beginning with getting the raw materials, then making and using the product, and finally disposing of or recycling it. By studying each stage, scientists can see how much energy is used, how much waste is produced, and how it affects land, air, and water. In GCSE Chemistry, learning about LCA helps us understand how products contribute to environmental issues, and it encourages businesses to make more sustainable choices.
