Solute - GCSE Chemistry Definition

A solute is a substance that is dissolved in a liquid to form a solution. In simple terms, it's the part of a mixture that gets dissolved by another substance, often water, which is called the solvent. For example, when you stir sugar into a glass of water, sugar acts as the solute, and water is the solvent. Together, they form a sugar solution. Understanding solutes is important for studying how different substances interact and change when they are mixed in chemistry.
