Synthesise - GCSE Chemistry Definition

In GCSE Chemistry, to "synthesise" means to create a new chemical substance by combining two or more different substances in a chemical reaction. It's like following a recipe to make a new dish by mixing ingredients together. When you synthesise a compound, you’ll often observe changes like heat, light, or colour change, which show that a reaction has taken place. This process is important because it helps chemists make new materials, like medicines or plastics, by changing the way atoms are arranged in different molecules.
