Volume is the amount of space that a substance or object occupies. It is usually measured in units like cubic centimetres (cm³), cubic metres (m³), or litres (L). Examples include: The volume of a gas in a container can be measured in dm³ (1 dm³ = 1000 cm³) and during experiments, volume is often measured using a measuring cylinder, burette, or gas syringe. Volume measurements and calculations are a major part of chemical reactions in GCSE chemistry.
