Hydroponics - GCSE Biology Definition

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without using soil. Instead, the plants are grown in water that has special nutrients added to it. These nutrients provide everything the plants need to grow, including minerals that would normally come from the soil. Hydroponics allows plants to grow faster and can use less water than traditional farming. This technique is often used in places where soil is poor, or where growing seasons are short. By using hydroponics, people can grow fresh vegetables and fruits indoors or in regions where conventional farming is difficult.
