Reproduction - GCSE Psychology Definition

Reproduction, in the context of GCSE Psychology, refers to the process where an organism or cell makes a copy of itself. For humans and other living things, reproduction can be sexual or asexual. In sexual reproduction, two parents produce offspring that inherits a mixture of traits from both parents, resulting in genetic diversity. Asexual reproduction involves only one parent and produces offspring that are genetic clones of the parent. Understanding reproduction is important for studying how behaviours and characteristics are passed down through generations, which can influence both biological traits and psychological tendencies.
