Pixels - GCSE Computer Science Definition

Pixels are the tiny dots that make up the images on a computer or phone screen. Each pixel can show a different colour, and when lots of them are put together, they create a full picture or display. Think of them like the small squares in a mosaic; individually they may not seem like much, but together they form the complete image that you can see on your screen. The more pixels there are in a given space, the higher the image quality, which means it will look clearer and more detailed. This is why some screens are described as having a high resolution—they have lots of pixels packed closely together.
