Sample rate - GCSE Computer Science Definition

Sample rate is a term used in computer science and sound technology to describe how often a sound is measured, or "sampled," per second. Imagine if you’re recording a song on your phone: the sample rate tells you how many times per second the phone’s microphone captures tiny bits of the sound. A higher sample rate means that more samples, or pieces, are collected in a second, which helps to create a more detailed and clear sound when the recording is played back. In the GCSE computer science course, understanding sample rate helps students learn how computers and other devices handle audio files and ensure they sound as good as possible.
