Increase - GCSE Maths Definition

In Maths, "increase" means when a number or value becomes larger or goes up. For example, if you have five sweets and someone gives you three more, the total number of sweets you have is now eight. This is an increase of three sweets. In GCSE Maths, you will often calculate increases by using percentages or figuring out the difference between two numbers. Understanding how to calculate an increase can help you solve problems involving money, like determining how much you make when your allowance goes up, or how much a shop item costs after a price rise.
