If two lines are parallel, then they are always the same distance apart, and never meet. Parallel lines will have equal gradient. We can describe pairs of (opposite) sides on some quadrilaterals such as squares and rhombuses as being parallel. Identifying these features of graphs and shapes allows us to solve problems involving angles and shapes.
