Boundary - GCSE Physics Definition

In the context of GCSE Physics, a 'boundary' refers to the dividing line or interface between two different media, where certain physical properties such as density, refractive index, or temperature might change.
This concept is particularly important in the study of waves; for example, when a wave travels and hits the boundary between two materials, it may be reflected, refracted, or absorbed depending on the properties of both substances.
Understanding boundaries allows students to predict and explain how waves behave in various scenarios, such as sound waves moving from air to water or light waves passing through different layers of the atmosphere.
