An "emoticon" is a combination of keyboard symbols or characters that people use in digital communication to show emotions or feelings. For example, the smiley face emoticon ":)" is made using a colon and a bracket to represent a happy face.
Emoticons help make messages more personal and fun by giving a quick and simple way to express how you feel. They are important in GCSE Psychology because they help us understand how people communicate through technology and how emotions can be shared without using spoken words.
