Estimate - GCSE Biology Definition

In GCSE Biology, an estimate is an approximate calculation or judgement about a value, number, or quantity based on available information. When you make an estimate, you use observations or known data to guess what an unknown value might be. This is especially useful in experiments or studies where exact measurements may not be possible or necessary. For example, you might estimate the number of leaves on a tree by counting the leaves on a few branches and then using that to guess the total. Estimation helps scientists make educated guesses that can guide further investigation.
