Navigation is the skill or process of successfully finding a way from one place to another. In the context of GCSE History, navigation often refers to the techniques and tools used by explorers and sailors to travel across the sea during important events or time periods, like the Age of Exploration. This might include the use of maps, compasses, stars, and other instruments to determine the best route and avoid getting lost. Understanding navigation helps us learn how explorers were able to discover new lands and trade routes, which had a big impact on history.
