A systematic sample is a way of selecting people or items to study in an organised way, using a predetermined system. This might be realised by using a database of all potential participants, and selecting every 5th person on the list. This method can save time and is reasonably free of bias as the researcher themselves does not select the sample. In GCSE Psychology, using systematic sampling can help researchers obtain a larger sample, which makes their results more reliable.
