A donor is someone who gives a part of their body, like blood, an organ, or tissue, to help someone else who needs it for medical reasons. In biology, especially when studying the human body and health, donors play an important role in saving lives. For example, blood donors give their blood so that hospitals have enough for patients who need transfusions, such as those who have lost a lot of blood during surgery or in an accident. Organ donors can donate parts like kidneys or a piece of their liver, which can help people with failing organs. When a person chooses to become a donor, they are making a generous contribution to the health and well-being of others.
