In GCSE Biology, proportion refers to the part of a whole, shown as a fraction, ratio, or percentage. It is used to compare quantities within a group or system. For example, in an ecosystem, you might study the proportion of one species compared to the total number of organisms. Proportion helps students analyse patterns, relationships, and changes in biological data, such as in food chains, populations, or experimental results.
