Qualitative reagents are special chemicals used to help identify or detect the presence of certain substances. They produce a visible change, such as a colour change, bubbles, or a smell, when they react with specific materials. In GCSE Biology, these reagents are important in experiments because they allow us to observe whether a particular substance is present. For example, an indicator might change colour to show if something is acidic or alkaline. Qualitative reagents help us observe chemical changes clearly and understand what substances are involved in a reaction.
