Field of view is the amount of area you can see through the lens of a microscope. When you look into a microscope, the circular area you see on the slide is your field of view. It helps you understand how much of a specimen, like a cell or a part of a leaf, you can examine at one time. If you use a low magnification, the field of view is larger, showing more of the specimen. With higher magnification, the field of view becomes smaller because you're zooming in on a smaller part. Understanding the field of view is important in biology to help you study small details of organisms and cells more clearly.
