Percentage - GCSE Psychology Definition

Percentage is a way to express a number as a part of 100. In psychology, percentages may be used to show how often certain behaviours or responses occur in studies or experiments. For example, if 25 out of every 100 people say they feel happy in a survey, we say that 25% of people feel happy. This helps psychologists understand and how specific behaviours differ from group to group or across conditions, which is important when studying psychology.
