Metabolism is the sum of all chemical reactions that take place in the cells of living organisms to keep them alive and functioning. It involves processes that break down molecules from the food we eat to release energy, which is used by the body for growth, movement, and repair. Metabolism also includes reactions that build up molecules the body needs, such as proteins and DNA. It is crucial for maintaining the body’s health and energy balance.
