A hypothesis is a statement that scientists use to make a prediction about what they expect to happen in an experiment. In biology, a hypothesis explains what you think will occur when testing something—such as how light affects plant growth. It is based on existing knowledge and helps guide the investigation. A good hypothesis should be clear, specific, and testable through experiments. By collecting data, you can determine whether your hypothesis is supported or if you need to revise your ideas.
