Racism - GCSE Sociology Definition

Racism is when someone is treated unfairly or differently because of the colour of their skin, where they come from, or their ethnic background. It involves beliefs or actions that suggest some races are better or worse than others. Racism can show up in many ways, like name-calling, stereotyping people based on their race, or denying someone opportunities like jobs or education. It’s important for everyone to understand racism, so we can work towards a fair and equal society where everyone is respected and valued, no matter their race.
