An organ system is a group of organs that work together to carry out a specific function in the body. Each organ within the system has its own role, but all contribute to the overall role of the system. For example, the digestive system includes organs such as the stomach, intestines, and liver, which work together to break down food and absorb nutrients. Other organ systems include the circulatory system, which transports blood around the body, and the respiratory system, which carries out gas exchange. Understanding how organ systems work is important because they allow the body to function and survive.
