Plotting - GCSE Maths Definition

In GCSE Mathematics, "plotting" refers to accurately marking points on a graph. This could be on a graph of a function or a statistical diagram. Points are plotted according to their coordinates, given in the form (x, y). The x-coordinate is plotted along the horizontal (x-) axis, and the y-coordinate is plotted on the vertical (y) axis. The letters x and y may not always be used, depending on what the graph is representing; for example, on a distance-time graph, the horizontal axis would typically be labelled with t, representing time. Plotting points is a crucial skill for when we wish to analyse graphs more accurately than what we'd see from a "quick look".
