Evolve - GCSE Psychology Definition

In GCSE Psychology, the term 'evolve' refers to the process of change and development in living things over a long period of time. This change happens through a process called natural selection, where traits that help an organism survive and reproduce are passed on to the next generation. Over many generations, these small changes can lead to big differences, helping a species adapt to its environment.

In psychology, evolution helps us understand why humans behave in certain ways and how our brains and behaviours have changed to help us live successfully.
