Alec Jessop

Alec graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in History before completing his PGDE at Moray House. He has over 15 years of teaching experience across the Senior Phase and has worked as a marker for the Scottish Qualifications Authority at all Senior Phase levels since 2014.

In 2022, Alec authored four textbooks for Hachette Learning’s Connecting History series. These included National 5 titles on Scotland and the Era of the Great War, The Russian Revolutions, and The American Civil Rights Campaigns, contributing to high-quality resources used by learners across Scotland.

Alec is passionate about producing engaging, accessible learning materials that encourage students to think critically about the past and to reflect on the connections between historical themes and contemporary life.
