Prepositions are essential to talk about where things are in your home and describe your bedroom. Let's look at them in more detail.
Prepositions
Prepositions are small but useful words which are used before a noun or a pronoun and connect it to another word
They often tell us where something is:
French | English | Examples | |
dans | in | Il y a trois chambres dans ma maison. | There are three bedrooms in my house. |
derrière | behind | Derrière ma maison, il y a un joli parc. | Behind my house there is a pretty park. |
devant | in front of | Mes chiens jouent devant la fenêtre. | My dogs play in front of the window. |
entre | between | Le lit est entre la porte et la chaise. | The bed is between the door and the chair. |
près de | nearby / close | J’aime vivre près de mes amis. | I like living close to my friends. |
sous | under | Mon chat dort toujours sous la table. | My cat always sleeps under the table. |
sur | on | J’ai des photos de ma famille sur les murs de ma chambre. | I have photos of my family on my bedroom walls. |
voici | here is | Voici ma chambre où je passe beaucoup de temps. | Here is my bedroom where I spend a lot of time. |
