Distribution - GCSE Biology Definition

In GCSE Biology, 'distribution' refers to the way different species of plants and animals are spread out or arranged in an environment. This can mean looking at where specific organisms are found in a particular area, like a forest or an ocean. Scientists study distribution to understand how and why certain organisms live in certain places, and to learn about their habits and needs. Different factors like temperature, light, water, and competition with other organisms can affect distribution. By understanding distribution, biologists can better protect and conserve species and their habitats.
