Energy exploitation refers to the process of extracting and using natural resources, such as coal, oil, natural gas, or renewable sources like wind and solar power, to generate energy for human use. In the context of the GCSE Geography course, it involves understanding the methods used to harness energy resources, the environmental and social impacts of energy extraction and consumption as well as the balancing of energy needs with sustainable development. Students learn about the geographical distribution of energy resources, the advantages and disadvantages of different energy types, and the global challenges of managing energy resources effectively and equitably.
