Import - GCSE Geography Definition

In the context of GCSE Geography, "import" refers to the bringing of goods or services into a country from abroad for sale. When a country does not produce certain items, or when it is cheaper to buy them from another country, it imports these goods. Imports can include things like food, clothing, electronics, and many other products. This process is important because it allows countries to access goods and services that they might not have or cannot produce as efficiently on their own. It also plays a significant role in a country's economy, affecting jobs, trade relationships, and even the price of items in shops.
