Urban Planning is the process of designing and organising the way towns and cities are built and developed. It involves making decisions about where homes, shops, parks, roads, and schools should be located to improve the quality of life for people who live there. Urban planners try to solve problems like traffic congestion, pollution, and overcrowding to create healthy, safe, and enjoyable places to live. This work is important because it helps ensure that cities grow in a way that is sustainable for people and the environment. In GCSE Geography, students learn about how urban planning affects communities and the challenges of making cities sustainable for the future.
