Ranch - GCSE History Definition

A ranch is a large area of land where animals like cattle, sheep, or horses are raised. Ranches are often found in countryside areas and used for farming and livestock production. Historically, especially in the United States during the 19th century, ranching played a significant role in the expansion and settlement of the west. Cowboys worked on these ranches, managing the animals and making sure they had enough food and water. In the context of GCSE History, learning about ranches can help students understand how agriculture and farming influenced economic and social developments during that time.
