The term supernatural refers to things that cannot be explained by science or natural laws. In history, people often used supernatural explanations to make sense events or phenomena they didn't understand, such as lightening storms or mysterious illnesses. These explanations could involve ghosts, magical creatures, or gods with special powers. Supernatural beliefs have been widely held throughout history and were especially important during the Middle Ages. It was during the Renaissance that people began to adopt a more scientific and rational approach to explaining an understanding things. Understanding supernatural beliefs helps us learn about how people in the past viewed the world around them.
