Equal - GCSE Maths Definition

The term 'Equal' in maths means that two things are the same in value or amount. When we say two numbers or objects are equal, it means they are exactly the same size or worth. In equations, we often use the equal sign '=' to show this relationship. For example, if you have £5 and your friend has £5, then you both have equal amounts of money. Understanding equality is important because it helps us solve problems accurately, like balancing equations where both sides must be the same.
