Estimate - GCSE Maths Definition

In GCSE Maths, an estimate is a rough calculation or educated guess of a number or value based on the information you have. It's not meant to be exact, but it should be close enough to give you a good idea of the answer. Estimating can help you check your maths work by seeing if your answer makes sense. For example, if you're adding up the cost of a few items, you might round the prices to the nearest pound before adding them together to get an estimate. This skill is useful for making quick decisions in everyday life, like when you're shopping or budgeting your money.
