Median - GCSE Maths Definition

The median is a type of average used in maths to find the middle value in a set of numbers.

To find the median, you first need to arrange the numbers in order from smallest to largest. If you have an odd number of values, the median is the one right in the middle. If you have an even number of values, the median is the average of the two middle numbers (i.e., the number halfway between the two middle numbers).

The median is helpful because it shows the middle point of the data and is less affected by very high or very low numbers, unlike the mean.
