In GCSE Mathematics, "period" refers to the length of time it takes for a recurring pattern, sequence or functions to complete a full cycle. Depending on the context, period may be called wavelength. In particular, understanding the period allows us to solve problems in trigonometry concerning sine and cosine waves.
