In GCSE Mathematics, a sample is a certain number of members of a population. Depending on the size of the population, it is not always practical to work with the entire population, so a sample is taken instead. A large enough sample (size) would reduce bias from the sample, and analysis of such a sample allows us to make inferences about the population.
