A semicircle is half a circle. It consists of an arc of a circle (which will have a length that is half the circle's circumference) and a diameter of the circle that connects the ends of the arc. In solving problems involving perimeter, it is crucial to realise the diameter forms part of the perimeter of a semicircle. A standard 180° protractor is a semicircle.
