A theorem is a mathematical statement that has been proven using logical reasoning and existing mathematical facts. In GCSE Mathematics, you will encounter theorems that help solve problems; Pythagoras' theorem is very common and concerns the relationship between the three sides of a right-angled triangle. You are not usually required to prove a theorem, as this has already been done in the past. However, you will be required to use theorems to solve problems - there are several circle theorems you need to know that enable you to solve problems regarding angles and shapes involving circles.
